Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 20

I just drove my van for two hours straight pretty much, and oh my god that was the worst thing I've ever had to do. How my dad did 16 hours to Florida, I don't know.

Kinja'd!!!

Allow me to compile a list of complaints if you will.

The 1-2 up shift has to be the worst in any car ever. So jerky.

Dear god why is my ass numb?Oh yeah, because the drivers seat is collapsed on one side. My butt was sitting on the seat frame the entire time.

The 4.3 is one of the worst sounding engines sitting at about 2500RPM at 70 MPH.

It needs one more gear, that engine is just spinning too fast at highway speeds.

120 miles and I used over half a tank of gas? Really?

That stereo was the work of Satan. Screw you Delco.

The amount of steering corrections needed at highway speeds is ridiculous.

EVERYTHING RATTLES OH MY GOD.

Braking at 70 MPH has to be the scariest thing ever, the who car hops around and shakes. Rotors are probably warped.

I HAD TO STOP AND TIGHTEN ALL THE LUGNUTS. The idiots that inspected it at CarX didn't tighten them enough. I could almost unscrew the back ones with no force whatsoever.

Dear self canceling blinkers: It'd be great if you would, you know, self cancel.

The suspension is so soft, it actually makes the ride worse.

The window switches are right where my knee rests on the door panel, thus I roll the passenger side window up every time I drive.

I was practically being blown across the highway. Brick-like aerodynamic properties, FTW.

No AC. Boo.

So yeah, next time I have to drive that long straight, I'm taking the Saturn.

240 miles range? Jeez, how small is the tank?

That's actually a little big. What's the MPG, then?

Fucking terrible. I don't know an exact number. But dear god it drinks gas like it's a V8.

Yeah but your car has, y'know, curtains. That automatically makes it dope.

It has curtains on the double doors, two on each door. It's a PITA to see out of the back.

I've discovered my car has two neat gas features. 1) It gets better gas mileage than any big V8 sedan should, and 2) it has a 24 gallon tank, which gives it a highway range of like 600 miles.

This whole bit makes it worth it. except for the depressing dead grass and leafless trees

Mine was also loaded down with 7 people, climbing some hills, and probably needs a good tune-up. It's usually not too terrible, but my dad's truck still gets better mileage.

Yeah, old picture. The grass and tree both look nice now.

Ahh, the 7 people will make a difference. If they average 200lbs each, that's an extra 1400lbs you're hauling around.

Did I mention I was having to floor it to get up said hills? Because yeah, that happened.

At least you didn't do 26 hours to Florida (one way!) with five people crammed into an old Escort.

26 hours? Dear god man.

From Massachusetts. That's 26 hours going straight through the night with the parents taking shifts behind the wheel. It still ends up being waaaaay cheaper than flying.

It was a good car, though. Even fully loaded with five people and a week's worth of luggage for each it still managed to pull nearly 40mpgs on the highway.

That's why we drive to Florida, so much cheaper.

Though, it was always more comfortable in the Van that is was in the Saturn. More room for people and things.

1000+ miles, 17 hours straight, 86 gallons of gas, 2800@70mph (when I could reach 70), through a snow storm in the Appalachians with a maxed out payload and bad front sway bar link. May I present my already presented daily driver:
